A yoga mat is the only accessory required for yoga. The prana yoga mat is gaining popularity, as there are a number of yoga postures that need to be performed while lying down. Soiling oneself or one’s clothes is simply unacceptable.

Considering a Prana Yoga Mat

1. Sticky mats " These mats have a special substance on the bottom which, once moistened with water, allows the mat to stick to the floor. These mats are very thin, durable, and washable. Once they are wet they have a type of glue on their sides which helps making it stick to the floor making exercising easier.

2. Double thick mats " Some sticky mats are available in double thickness. These mats are extremely popular because they are easy to use and extremely comfortable. The best part of these mats is that they provide better cushioning.

3. Travel yoga mats " This type of a prana yoga mat is wafer thin. Because of the thinness of the mat it is difficult to use. But the travel version is kept thin because it will need to be packed and can not take up a lot of space.

4. Cotton mats " This is the most popular type of prana yoga mat. Cotton mats are easily washable, easily usable and extremely versatile. The newest development in cotton mats is that once you put a bit of moisture on them they will stick to the floor.

There are many types of yoga mats from which to choose, but no prana yoga mat is perfect. In order to see which one suits you, use one or two samples to get a feel for the mat. This is a good way to see which prana yoga mat is the best fit for you. Your neighbor may prefer on type over another, but that is no guaratee you will like it best.

When choosing a mat, choose one that will make you happy and will be comfortable on which to exercise. With the popularity of the yoga mats, it is easy to find one on the Internet that suits your requirements, your budget and, most importantly, your style.
